Program Description
Event Details
Smokey Bear, the U.S. Forest Service's beloved mascot, turns 80 this summer! Join us for a special storytime, followed by crafts and activities. We're thrilled to announce that Smokey himself will be our special guest! We'll learn about Smokey's story as well as ways to be safe around fire. Kids can take Smokey's pledge and receive a special certificate and pin to keep!
This program is best for children ages 2-5 and their parents/caregivers.
No registration is required. Space is limited; first-come, first-served--just stop by the Youth Services desk when you arrive to receive a nametag!
The Smokey Bear Storytime will take place in the Storytime Room, with crafts and activities in the Activity Room afterward.
*In order to maximize the number of spots available for children, we ask that you limit the number of adults in your party. This program is intended for individual families and cannot accommodate camp groups, daycares, or other large groups.
Special thanks to Jenifer Jay of the U.S. Forest Service and BJ Butler of the Virginia Department of Forestry!
We look forward to seeing you--and remember: Only you can prevent wildfires!
