Bring your imagination for LEGO® building time at the Downtown Branch Library every Wednesday! Complete the challenge or free build whatever you like. 

Kids ages 2-5 (plus their parents/caregivers & siblings*) are invited to join us for Family Storytime at 10:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. on Wednesdays this summer!

Join us at the Downtown Branch for Storytime at 10:30 a.m. every Friday, except July 19, this summer! Storytime will feature stories, songs, rhymes, crafts, and more. We hope to see you there! 

Join us for Chess on the patio at the Downtown Branch Library every Saturday morning. This event is first come, first served and is open to all skill levels. 

Summer Lunch (provided by Lynchburg City Schools) is returning to the Library! A free lunch for kids ages 18 and younger will be served on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM. Lunch begins on June 5 and will end on August 2.

Team up with the Virginia Family Nutrition Program for Summer Food, Summer Moves!

The Lynchburg Fire Department will be joining us at the Library this summer! Kids can enjoy interacting with firefighters and their fire engine while learning fun facts about firefighting and fire safety.

Calling all crafty creators! Kids of all ages (and their parents/caregivers) are welcome to drop by the Youth Services Activity Room for our Family Craft Day programs!

Start a new adventure at the library with our monthly tabletop gaming sessions. Drop in between 12 and 3 p.m. in our Community Meeting Room. Bring your own games or pick one from our collection!

Chess for Kids is back! Children ages 6 to 12 can join in from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. every third Saturday.

Join LPL every Tuesday night for a game of chess!

All levels are welcome and boards can be borrowed from the Adult Services desk. Players meet in the Adult side of the library in front of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Room.
